In applications with extended braking times, high horsepower, or where frequent regeneration occurs, the M3345 is the most economical solution. While resistor solutions waste regenerated energy as heat, Bonitron’s M3345 Regen Module returns the regenerated energy back onto the input AC line. Substantial energy savings result as the regenerated energy can now be used to power other equipment and the cooling requirements are reduced.

The M3345 is available in two styles: Type-1 and Type-13. Type-1 is ideal for locations requiring a small footprint, such as drive cabinets. Type-13 is better suited for harsher environments.

Typical line regen applications include:

  • Stopping high inertia loads such as saws, fans and centrifuges
  • Eccentric loads such as slicers, punch presses, stamping operations, tumblers and dryers
  • High cycle loads such as machine tool, stackers, and pick and place systems

For Example:
A 45 A, Model M3345-44SMF0, is used for braking a high inertia centrifuge with these characteristics:

  • 50 hp peak, 25 hp avg. during deceleration; 10 hours a day, 33% duty cycle, 6 cents per kWh:

$ Savings = (25) x (.33) x (365) x (10) x (.06) x (.746)= $ 1348.00 per year

The M3345 Regen module reduces the centrifuge’s braking time from 300 to 90 seconds, resulting in 30% more throughput and saves money!
